Enjoy a Wrinkle-free Summer

Liver spots are the first sign of ageing caused due to exposure to the sun and are proof that we've soaked up too many ultraviolet rays over the years. If they're visible on the skin, then they're already well-rooted in the lower layers of the epidermis. But by treating them early on with an anti-age-spot cream, you can limit the damage.

Two weeks before you hit warmer climes to spend some time under the sun, take a vitamin E or borage oil supplement to prepare the skin for tanning and counteract the dehydrating effects of the sun. Slather on an anti-ageing sunscreen every two hours and after swimming.

Opt for a sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB and go for SPF 30 or 50. Even if you have a deep tan, you should continue to apply sunscreen. Don't forget your sunglasses to prevent squinting and wrinkles around the fragile eye contour zone.

UV rays will cause any liver spots to darken and increase the likelihood of new ones appearing. During summer, our melanocytes are stimulated to the max both at the surface and deeper levels. To avoid returning home with withered, blemished hands, opt for a hand cream that contains SPF; it will both moisturise and protect at the same time.

To avoid dehydration and dry skin that deepens wrinkles, take in lots of non-alcoholic drinks throughout the day even if you're not thirsty, i.e. water, iced tea, fruit juices. Our tip: sip on coconut water for its potassium content which is known to balance water levels in the body.

Apply moisturiser in the morning and at night to tackle wrinkles. Use a day cream that's light in texture if your skin tends to shine or cream with SPF. And don't forget to apply after-sun treatment, which will repair your skin overnight.
