We don't move much when we sleep, so firstly we need to boost our circulation and give our muscles and tendons a good wake-up call. Stand up with your feet at hip-width, keep your back and head straight and swing your arms from left to right. Try not to move your head. Breathe deeply and within a couple of minutes you'll feel your energy returning. Take an invigorating shower. A good blast of water will stimulate your body and increase endorphin levels. Leaving you wide awake!
Start by splashing your face with cold water. This will boost your blood flow and brighten your complexion. Apply a gentle face scrub to get rid of dead skin cells that suffocate and sallow skin. Use large, circular movements to massage it in, but don't scrub too hard. Rinse off with lukewarm water and admire your rosy glow! But it's not over yet... Time to apply a revitalising toner, which will further cleanse your skin and banish any signs of tiredness. Finish off with a suitable moisturiser that will leave you with plump, wholesome features. Nourishing dry, fragile or dehydrated skin will restore elasticity and brighten the complexion.
There's no point in washing your hair every day. Quite the opposite - over washing can strip away sebum that gives our manes their healthy shine. Follow the old wives tale and brush those locks to your heart's content. No need to do 100 strokes, but give your hair a good brush from root to tip, starting with your head upside down and then with your head upright. This will stimulate your scalp and hair shafts, whilst boosting your circulation. Don't forget to brush before bed to get rid of dust, pollution and smoke that can smother hair.
You've woken up with trunk-sized bags and look like you haven't slept for weeks... Concealer to the rescue! But before you attack your excess baggage, you'll need to moisturise your eye contour zone. If you don't, your concealer will sink into any wrinkles, drying your skin and making lines more visible. Apply a concealer that's slightly lighter than your foundation. Choose an ivory or yellow tone if your bags are brown and yellow/orange if they're bluish. Lightly tap it on with your fingertip, following your lower lash line and working from inside out. Finish off by gently dabbing it in for an even-toned finish. Et voilà, you're ready to attack your day!
