100 Natural Masks and Lotions to Combat Oily Skin

Drop a tablespoon of green clay into a bowl (non-metallic), add a bit of mineral water or rose or orange blossom water, then wait as the clay/water mix binds together. Mix until it forms a smooth non-liquid paste. Apply a thick layer all over the skin using gentle circular motions. Leave it to work its magic for around 10 minutes then rinse it off with warm water. The purifying action of the green clay rids the skin of impurities whilst controlling the excess sebum.

Peel a whole cucumber and put it in a pot of unsalted water. Cook it and strain the liquid. Bottle it and store in a cool environment. You can use this lotion on your face to remove make-up: the cucumber helps to hydrate the skin (supplying it with water), but without making it greasy or causing unwanted shine.

Break the egg keeping only the white. Mix it with honey and add just enough flour to form a paste consistency. Apply the prepared mask to your face, avoiding the eye area. Leave it to work for around 10 minutes and rinse off with warm water. Egg whites are renowned for their ability to absorb sebum: so they are the perfect ally for oily skin!

Bring water to the boil and add rose petals when it's boiling. Then, put the lid on the pot, lower the heat and leave the petals to soak for 30 minutes. Finally, you just need to strain the liquid and apply it onto your face using a cotton pad. Rose water cleanses the face and makes it look radiant by illuminating the skin with its astringent and purifying properties.

After having washed the tomato, cut it into slices. Apply the tomato slices directly onto your cleansed face. Leave for around 20 minutes and then rinse with clean water. It's a piece of cake! The tomato is an extremely powerful astringent which purifies pores clogged with dirt and then reduces them very effectively.

Mix 2 tablespoons of natural yoghurt with 1 tablespoon of powdered oats. Whisk 1 egg white and add it to the mixture to form a smooth paste. After cleansing your face, apply the mask and leave for 15 minutes. Finally, rinse it off with warm water. The vitamins and minerals in the yoghurt make it an excellent natural astringent that reduces open pores and naturally regulates the excess sebum. The oats help to unclog impurities which often cause blackheads from your pores.

Mix two spoonfuls of aloe vera gel with one spoonful of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Dampen a cotton pad with the liquid this creates and gently apply it all over the face, leaving it to dry naturally without rinsing. We recommend that you apply this lotion in the evenings. Daily use of aloe vera helps to combat excess sebum.

Crush 5 strawberries in a bowl, add a tablespoon of yoghurt and mix together to form a smooth mixture. Apply the mask to your face and leave for 15-20 minutes. Strawberries have a soothing effect and help to regulate the epidermis layer of the skin.

Pour 20g of mint leaves into a pot full of half a litre of boiling mineral water. Leave to infuse for a quarter of an hour and then strain. Add 5 spoonfuls of powdered milk to the infusion when cooled. Use as a make-up remover on your face. Mint has antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, astringent and healing properties which make it perfect for oily skin as well as for those who suffer from acne. Before each application, always test on your elbow to make sure that you will not suffer any allergic reactions.
